[whimps_mtb_club] WMBC Fundraiser

Hi everyone,

I'm working with Chris Behee on producing a quality poster size Galbraith Mt map, based off the map which is sold at all the shops and online .

size would 27x36 size
on 60# poster paper

Seeing it would be one of the WMBC fundraisers it would sell for $35.00 plus shipping.-- 5.90 plus poster tube if it won't fit in a USPS tube. So total cost would be 42.00 including shipping.

I would need to take pre orders before actually purchase and would need at least 50 confirmed orders before actual printing. I wouldn't ask for payment until they were printed and ready to ship.

So, How many people are actually interested?

I have had a one off version printed and hanging in my family room for 2 years it was a father day present. After framing and and printing it cost 127.90. not a picasso but alot cheaper and goes well with the outdoors theme.

cheers

[whimps_mtb_club] Pigs Work

Last night the kids and i did a little work on the second pig, we removed one of the slowing switch backs and re-rerouted it to a more straight line.

This was on the list of WMBC fixes for the trail and the next step will be to remove the old section of trail.

Chance my 4 yr old said he saw Pig tracks!

Cheers

Last Official Trail Day a Success:

We had a killer turnout this Saturday for our last official trailday of the season. Even with it being one of the only sunny days in recent weeks (hello summer, where art thou?), over 50 people took the day off the bike to help us get Atomic Dog dialed for the summer. There were a lot of the usuals on hand, but there was also a lot of new faces that were stoked to give back. Also, the trend of having more ladies and young riders joining us continued which is very cool.

Many thanks to Transition Bikes for inspiring such a big turnout….Kevin, Kyle and Cameron were out digging until the very end and those guys provided pizza and bevies for lunch.

We knocked off the following items:

• Drainage – The 4 major drainage issues were tackled and the vast majority of the trail is outsloped with big, proper drains now. We’ll revisit these in the fall to clear them out, but the foundation is in place now and should help the trail dry quickly. Hawk, Spence and Lorin were up top making sure everything was all done properly.

• Several berms got reshaped with a bunch of dirt added.

• The new exit got down to gold and is totally open with a couple of fun new features. Odin and Matt K. were leading that zone with a big posse.

• The rock wallride isn’t done yet, so we’ll be working on that over the next couple weeks. The step up that is between the two stepdowns got a proper tranny with Brandon and Kevin M. taking the lead on that zone.

• Exit to Unemployment Line – We had 2 trucks gathering rock and gravel and 10 folks tackled this project in the AM with Andrew’s lead. The amount of rock and gravel in there now, it should hold up fine ‘til Fall and we’ll reassess how it’s working then. If it becomes a problem again, we might have to build a small ladder into the berm. Still TBD.

Galbraith Mountain Rider Survey

Hi all,

In order to get a better understanding of our community using the trails on Galbraith, we’ve put together a rider survey. As the survey states, this information is completely anonymous and the WMBC is not collecting any personal data (email, names, etc.). This information will be used to support future discussions with land managers in Whatcom County and provide insight into the recreational value mt. biking has in Bellingham.

Please take 5 minutes to fill the survey and help the WMBC learn more about the rider population.

Click to take survey

Because a lot of riders don’t frequent the various bike forums or aren’t likely on this email list, we’ll be setting up a couple of weekend days at Birch St. and Galbraith lane to capture info. from other users and riders. I would love to have some volunteers who could help me with that effort (maybe in 2 or 3 hour shifts). While it’s true that I’m broken (again) and can’t ride right now, I do have several trail projects happening on the hill and would like to keep those moving forward. Let me know if you’re interested in helping out with such an endeavor.

PLEASE FORWARD TO ANY FRIENDS THAT HAVE RIDDEN GALBAITH IN THE PAST YEAR.
