Hey guys,
So, Andrew and Colin took the weekend off from the trail. After 12 days straight of digging……they were starting to show signs of being human! ;-) Actually, Andrew wired his entire upstairs of his house, so he didn’t even get a weekend off from working. Ouch!! Hawk, Slater, myself and the pups got out on Saturday to start pin flagging obvious areas that need some love. They’ve got notes on them like “Reveg zone”, “drain here”, “outslope here” and “close down old trail”. We didn’t address any of the items around shaping as that’s gotta happen working down the hill – feature to feature. Lorin Bachman was out on Sunday doing some revegging near the bottom.

Yesterday afternoon, I got out with Matt S., Thad, Brandon Watts and a new guy named Chad Ray (he’s been out 3 days now). Andrew is now clearing the last section out to the road. He’s a day or two ahead of the shapers, so once he’s done, he’s going to work backwards back up to the old trail and fix two corners and gather dirt for pumpers.
We did some shaping on a few features and Matt and Chad plate compacted down to where we stopped. The goal is to have the machine on the road by the end of the week and have Mark S. pick it up on Friday. Fingers crossed. Then, we’ll need to identify all of the features and drain issues that we want to adjust and work down the hill and fix those as we go. After the plate compactor has gone down the trail again, we’ll still probably need to do some tweaking to make sure everything is 100% good to go.
I’ll be out for a bit this afternoon.
Cheers,
EB
